In a world with guards called Deathguards, death is now impossible. Paul Telis is one of the low-ranking Deathguards. One day, half of the amount of Deathguards start to disappear mysteriously. Paul is worried. So is his also Deathguard friend, Dan Wyminghoff. Then, Dan disappears too. More people start to die. Paul goes on a journey to figure out why Deathguards are disappearing and to find his friend Dan.
