Chapter Two - Tim
*BEEP! BEEP!* A car horn sounds from outside.
I get up, even though I really don’t want to, and peek outside my window. Damn, Angel’s here already? Fuck. I haven’t even gotten dressed! I’m so tired…
I hear Johnathan scream from outside the house. “MR. DAVIDSON! WAKE YOUR LAZY ASS UP AND GET OUT HERE WE GOT PLACES TO BE AND PEOPLE TO SEE! I PLANNED MY WHOLE DAY ON THE SKY BEING RED AND NOW IT’S FUCKING GREEN, SO I NEED SOMETHING TO MAKE MY DAY BETTER! GET THE FUCK OUT HERE!”
I open up my window and peek my head outside, laughing at Johnathan’s stupidity. “You bitch, gimme a damn minute…” Angel waves at me from the driver’s seat of his red Dodge Charger. “Hey Tim! Get your bitch ass out here.” I roll my eyes and then pop back into my room.
Damn! I usually wake up early, I’m complaining to myself. Why on the first day of school do I have to fucking oversleep? And of course, I still fucking wake up tired. But whatever. I throw on my uniform with a pair of jeans. I slip on my shoes, grab my bag, and head to the bathroom. I brush my teeth, head to the kitchen, grab a cookie and my bookbag, then peek my head into my mom’s room.
She’s sound asleep. Best not bother her. I write a little note to her, give her a kiss on the cheek, then head to the door. I step outside and into the driveway outside my house, taking my sweet time.
Just to spite them, I start walking slowly to the car. “C’mon, you fucking turtle!” Angel screams at me. “Fuck you, no.” I reply to him, then laugh. I jump in the car and Angel starts to drive off.
“So how was your summer, Tim?” Johnathan asks.
“It was alright. Not really much to do ‘cept play video games, study, the usual... You?”
“Meh. I just sat around the house and did nothing. Occasionally played the guitar, but like, not much else.”
“Angel? How ‘bout you?” I asked.
“Eh.. I had to take care of my younger siblings like always, but I also had to babysit my damn baby cousins. At least I got paid for it… At least the folks managed to get me this baby,” he replied, lightly tapping his knuckles on the window of his brand-new car.
I don’t live that far from the school, so it only took us like around 20 minutes to get there. Angel pulls up into the student parking lot, trying to find somewhere to park. Once he finally finds a place that’s far enough from the other cars, he ends up parking next to a black Mustang, leaving a space in-between them. Damn, that shit looks nice, I wonder whose that is…
We all get out the car and walk to the pavilion. I stop dead in my tracks when I see Stellina.
“Tim? You good bro?” Angel asks me, but I’m already lost in my thoughts.
What the hell…? This is not the girl that I remember from last year. She was more, well, bright? She looks like, this doesn’t seem like her. But I mean, if that’s how she chooses to be, then so be it. That’s her decision. Not gonna lie, I kind of like the new style change. The dark colors, they sorta fit her. But regardless, her eyes, they don’t look as bright anymore. She looks tired, like she’s gone through a lot. I mean, of course she has, we were all there for her issues last year. And I didn’t really do much to help that… oh well. Whatever happens, happens. She did say she still wanted to be friends after… well… Should I talk to her…?
Angel hits me on the head. “Tim! You good? You’ve had that blank stare on your face for a couple of minutes, and it’s starting to freak me out. Wait,” Angel looks in the direction that I was staring, “Oh. Stel?”
I vaguely murmur a “yeah” before trying to shake off the thoughts and just go about my day. “Forget about it Angel, let’s just find the other guys…
